There’s a new craze hitting the Geocaching world. MUNZEE is a new style scavenger hunt.
People place and/or hide QR bardcoded tags and other users go hunt them with their iPhone or Droid and scan them to gain points. Visit Munzee.com for more info and to download the app.
Munzee Tag help…
I’ve done a bunch of experimenting on the Munzee Tags….
Office supply places have non-heat laminating sheets ($9/10)
They also have laser printer sticker sheets ($8/40)
Big paper cutter makes it easier and quicker. GOOD packing tape is important too.
Munzee site has a batch printing option now, create a LOT to start (40).
Mark 15 for printing and the play with the SCALING (70% seems best) to make 15 fit on one page.
Play with it and use plain paper initially. Try to use LASER printer, ink jet CAN run over time.
I do greyscale on laser and color on inkjet. (grey scale blends in better). You can make them small with 30% or 25% scalling (they look tiny but scan easily). You can make HUGE one if you want too.
If you want purely laminated Munzees, print on plain paper. Cut out the douple ROWS and that makes it easy to fold the front and rear and have them still attached and easy to laminate. Lay out one sheet of laminate sticky up. carefully place and make sure you leave room between each for top laminite to contact the bottom.
Some ple use these for placement IN Geocaches and for HANGING them (like tie wraps and such).
Stickers are easier but a little wasteful. Cut the 15 into vertical rows of FRONTS and trash the rears. Remove the backing of the laminte sheet and SAVE IT. Place the FRONTS face down onto the laminate sheet. Make the rows close together but not touching.
Keep going until the entire laminte is full. No lay the backing sheet on top of the sticky and press down. Flip over and start cutting out Munzees. I print 30 (2 sheets of stickers and that fills one laminte sheet nicely).
Sometime the hardest part is getting the backing off the sticker, to help this, bend over the corner backward and it’ll help separate the corner. CLEAN THE LOCATION before sticking the Munz.
Consider the location when attaching. I see a LOT of people that put a sticker where sprinklers will hit it daily, that does not make them last. High and Dry is best.
